Chocolate Fudge 1

2 cups cane sugar
4 tbs cocoa
2 tbs syrup or a pinch of cream of tartar
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 tbs butter
1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Mix sugar and cocoa, add syrup or cream of tartar and milk. Cook in saucepan until mixture forms soft ball stage. Stir only occasionally and keep pot covered while fudge is boiling. When cooked, let stand without stirring until cool. Add butter and vanilla and beat until creamy. Add nuts and turn into greased pan.
