Crumb Top Apple Pie without Crust

Filling:
2/3 cups sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
8 large tart apples, pooled, cored and thinly sliced (12 cups about 4 lb)
2 tbs water
2 tbs lemon juice
2 tbs margarine

Crumb Topping:
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup margarine softened
1 cup all-purpose flour

Filling:
Preheat oven to 350F. In large bowl combine sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add apples; sprinkle on water and lemon juice. Toss until evenly coated. Spoon into a 9 inch deep dish pie pan. Dot with margarine.

Crumb Topping:
Cream sugar and margarine until light and fluffy. Add flour and stir until smooth. Dab on apples. Bake 50-60 minutes. Serve warm - plain or with ice cream, whipped cream or cheese.

Makes 8 servings.
