Sweet Georgia Brownies

Brownie:
1/2 cup butter or margarine
One 1 oz square unsweetened chocolate
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1/2 to 1 cup nuts, chopped
1 tsp baking powder

Filling:
One 8 oz pkg cream cheese, softened (reserve 2 oz for frosting)
1/2 cup sugar
2 tbs flour
1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup nuts, chopped
One 16 oz pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

Frosting:
3 cups miniature marshmallows
1/4 cup butter or margarine
One 1 oz square unsweetened chocolate
Remaining 2 oz of cream cheese
1/4 cup milk
1 lb confectioners' sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350F degrees.

Brownie:
Grease and flour a 13x9 inch pan. In large saucepan over low heat, melt butter and chocolate. Add remaining brownie ingredients and mix well. Spread into prepared pan.

Filling:
In small bowl, combine 6 oz cream cheese and next 5 filling ingredients. Blend until smooth and fluffy. Stir in nuts. Spread over chocolate mixture. (*If desired, sprinkle with chocolate pieces.) Bake at 350F for 25 to 35 minutes until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Frosting:
Sprinkle marshmallows over brownie and bake 2 minutes longer. In a large saucepan, over low heat, melt butter, chocolate, remaining cream cheese, and milk. Stir in confectioners, sugar and vanilla extract until smooth Immediately pour over marshmallows and swirl together. Cool and cut into bars. Store in refrigerator.

Yield: 3 dozen
