Ham Roast

1 picnic-type smoked ham (approximately 5 lb) bone in, remove excess fat
Cloves (optional)
Ground pepper
2 cups White Zinfandel wine

Score fat on ham in diamond pattern. Pepper ham on all sides to taste and insert whole cloves, dotting the ham.

When ready to cook, place ham on a rack in a baking pan and add White Zinfandel to the pan. Roast ham, uncovered, in 350F oven, allowing 25 minutes for each pound. Baste frequently during the cooking period with the White Zinfandel and other pan juices. After roasting, ham should be allowed to cool at room temperature. Slice the ham and add dollops of Cherries White Zinfandel to serve. Serve with a glass of White Zinfandel.

Serves 8-10 people.
