Old Time Tarts

1/2 cup butter
1-1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
3 tablespoons milk
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 cups sifted flour

Preheat oven to 350F. Cream butter and sugar; add egg, vanilla and milk. Mix well. Add all dry ingredients. Divide dough into 18 or 20 small balls. Roll out on a floured board to about the size of a small saucer. Add one tablespoon filling on half of dough. Flap the other half over and seal the edges and cut 1/2 inch slits in top of each for the steam to escape or prick top with a fork. Bake on cookie sheet at 350F for 18-20 minutes until golden brown.

Serves 18-20.
