1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup firmly packet light brown sugar
2 large eggs
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup sifted cake flour (not self-rising)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped
1/3 cup bitter-sweet chocolate, coarsely chopped (3 oz. bar),

Preheat oven to 350F. Cream the butter and brown sugar until fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add eggs, 1 at a time. Beat well after each addition. Stir in vanilla. Add the flour and salt and beat until well mixed. Fold in walnuts and then chocolate pieces. Pour batter into pan and smooth out. Bake in center of oven for 30-35 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean. Cool in pan. Cut into two inch squares.
