Fig Cookies 1

2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup shortening
3-1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup Pecans, chopped,
1 cup fig preserves
Spices to taste

Preheat Own to 350 F. Cream, sugar eggs shortening. Add remaining ingredients, adding preserves slowly to judge for consistency. Drop by teaspoonfuls far apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake 15 minutes or until light brown. Cool on wire rack.

Yields: 7 dozen.
