French Orange Cake

Cake:
8-ounces dates, chopped
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sour milk
1/2 cup hot water
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs 11/2 cup flour
1 cup nuts, chopped
1 teaspoon orange flavoring
Glaze:
1 orange rind, grated
1 orange, squeezed for juice
1 cup powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 350F. Combine hot water and baking soda. Pour over dates in small bowl. Put aside. Cream sugar and butter, add all other ingredients. Combine dates with mix. Bake for 30 minutes or until cake is done. Mix all glaze ingredients very well. While cake is hot, pour glaze over cake. Let stand until cool before serving.
