Slice bananas in half lengthwise, then again crosswise, making eight pieces. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Place bananas cut-side down in butter. Sprinkle half of mixture of cinnamon and sugar on top. Cook about 1 minute, then turn over and use rest of cinnamon and sugar mixture. Cook 1 more minute; add hazelnut syrup or rum. Cook for another minute. Serve warm, but ice cream or Cool Whip could be added.
