Fruit Tarts

2 cups fig preserves or any fruit preserves
1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1/4 cup sour milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon nutmeg
3-1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baling soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a small bowl, mix first seven ingre dients. Blend very well until creamy. Then, in medium bowl, put remainder of ingredients. Mix and put in first bowl. Mix well. Chil1 about 20 minutes. Then, roll thin on floured surface. Cut into large cookies with 6- inch diameter sharp edge. Put one round cut crust on greased pan. Put about 1 teaspoon to 1-1/2 teaspoons of preserves on crust and fold in half to form a half-moon tart. Press edges together with wet fork to seal top of crust. Cut slits on top. Placeon pan and bake at 350For 15 minutes or until brown. Serve one each or cut in half.
