Best Brownies

1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
1/2 cup ail-purpose flour
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Creamy Brownie Frosting

Heat oven to 350F. Grease square pan 9x9x2 inches. In large mixing bowl blend melted butter, sugar and vanilla. Add eggs; using a spoon, beat well. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt; gradually blend into egg mixture. Stir in nuts, if desired.

Spread in a prepared pan. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan. Cool; frost with Creamy Brownie Frosting. Cut into squares.

About 16 brownies.

Creamy Brownie Frosting:
In small mixer bowl cream 3 tbs softened butter or margarine. Add and beat to spreading consistency:
3 tbs unsweetened cocoa
1-1/3 cups confectioners sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 to 3 tbs milk

About 1 cup frosting.
