Buttermilk Pound Cake 1

3 cups flour
3 cups sugar
1 cup Crisco shortening
1 cup buttermilk
6 eggs
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
2 tsp lemon flavoring

Blend together shortening and sugar. Add egg yolks one at a time and blend. Add flavoring, sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with buttermilk, beginning and ending with tour. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into mixture. Pour batter into a ten inch tube pan which has been greased and floured. Bake in oven at 365F for 1-1/2 hours, or until top of cake is firm.
