Blackeye Pea Soup

1/2 lb smoked bacon, diced
2 cups celery, chopped
2 cups green peppers, chopped
2 cups onions, chopped
1 can beef consomme
2 cans (1 lb) tomatoes
2 cans (1 lb) blackeye peas

Saute bacon with celery, green peppers, and onions. Add tomatoes, peas, and consomme; simmer 30-40 minutes. Serve in soup bowls.

Serves 6 to 8.
