Irish Stew

1 beef round steak
1/2 cup butter
1 whole can tomatoes
2 onions, chopped
2/3 cup flour
4 medium potatoes, quartered
Water to the thickness you want
Salt and red pepper to taste

Cut steak into small pieces and fry in butter on both sides. Take the meat out and make a roux in the same skillet. Stir the roux until golden brown. Add meat, water, tomatoes, red pepper and salt. Let cook for about 1 hour. Add onions and potatoes. Cook for another 1/2 hour.

You may add peas and carrots if you like.
