Steak and Rice

- 1-1/2 pounds boneless beef round steak, cut in thin strips
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1 tbs vegetable oil
- 1/3 cup dry red wine
- 1 can (14-1/2 to 16 oz) tomatoes (2 cups)
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 2 medium onions, sliced
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/2 tsp each basil and thyme
- 3 cups hot cooked rice
- Season steak with garlic, salt, and pepper.
Brown meat in oil. Add remaining ingredients, except rice. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce the heat, and simmer 25 minutes. Remove bay leaf. Serve over beds of fluffy rice.
