Refrigerator Pickles

4 lb med cucumbers
3 lb onions
4 cups cider vinegar
1/2 cup salt
4 cups sugar
1-1/2 tsp turmeric
1-1/2 tsp mustard seed
1-1/2 tsp celery seed

Slice four pounds medium cucumbers thin, about one gallon. Slice three pounds onions thin. Combine cucumbers and onions in glass container.

Mix together in large saucepan:
4 cups cider vinegar
1/2 cup salt
4 cups sugar
1-1/2 tsp turmeric
1-1/2 tsp mustard seed
1-1/2 tsp celery seed

Stir over low heat until sugar dissolves. While hot, pour over cucumbers. Store in refrigerator. Solution can be used again. Just reheat and add more cucumbers.
