Vegetable Pie in a Cloud

1-1/2 cups sifted flour
1-1/2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cooking oil
2 tablespoons milk
1-1/2 cups mixed vegetables, cooked
1 cup ham, chopped
One 2.8 ounce can French fried onions
3 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons flour
2 cps milk
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon red pepper

Preheat oven to 425F. In 8 inch pie pan, sift 1-1/2 cups flour, 1-1/2 teaspoons sugar and 1 teaspoon salt.

Combine oil and milk, pour into flour mixture. Work with fork until flour is completely dampened. Press firmly and evenly to plate bottom, then up sides. Prick dough. Bake 12 to 15 minutes. Set aside to cool.

Heat butter in sauce pan. Stir in flour. Add milk slowly. Stir until smooth and thickened. Add salt and pepper. Stir in vegetables and meat. Pour 1/3 can of fried onions into bottom of pie crust.

Spoon vegetables in cream sauce over onions, sprinkle rest of onions over top. Let set. Cut into wedges.

Serves 4 to 6.
