Beefy Cabbage

1 small cabbage, chopped & salted
1-1/2 lb ground meat
1 large onion chopped
2 pods garlic
1/2 cup celery
1/2 cup bell pepper
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
Salt & pepper to taste
1 can tomato soup
1 can stewed tomatoes
1/4 cup melted or grated Cheddar cheese
2/3 cup raw rice

Grease large deep baking dish and layer chopped cabbage on bottom. Brown meat in skillet, lower heat and add onions, celery, garlic and bell pepper. Cover and rook several minutes until vegetables are wilted. Add seasonings, rice, tomato soup and stewed tomatoes, and cheese to meat mixture, breaking up tomatoes as you stir. Pour over cabbage, cover and bake 1 hour and 15 minutes in 350F oven. Remove cover and bake about 10 more minutes.

Baking dish will be soiled were juice bubbled but a wet towel removes all upper sides so dish is presentable for serving.
