Vermont Sweet Potatoes

1 large red cooking apple, cored, cut in 1/2-inch wedges
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup maple syrup
One 24 oz can sweet potatoes, undrained

Place apple and butter in a medium-size flat bottom microwave-safe casserole dish. Cover tightly. Microwave on 100% (HIGH) 3 minutes. Stir in maple syrup and sweet potatoes. Re-cover and microwave on 100% (HIGH) 5 minutes.

Makes 4 to 6 servings.
